Xpeng Motors Australia says it will directly support customers who bought vehicles through TrueEV following the formal end of its Australian distributor arrangement.
The factory-backed Xpeng ANZ is now the sole operator of the brand in Australia and says it will review eligible cashback, warranty, servicing and other promotional commitments previously made through TrueEV.
These include $5000 cashback offers, 10-year warranty promotions and complimentary scheduled maintenance.
Customers will need to provide proof of purchase and documentation showing the commitment made at the time of sale, with each case reviewed individually.
“All Xpeng customers deserve certainty about who is looking after them,” Xpeng ANZ national after sales manager Shaun Anthony says.
“Every Xpeng vehicle in Australia and New Zealand is backed by the factory, and every customer who purchased through TrueEV can now deal with Xpeng ANZ directly,” Anthony says.
“If a commitment was made to a customer at the point of sale, send us the details and we’ll work with customers to reach the appropriate outcome.”
Xpeng began direct operations in Australia in April and has since expanded its factory-backed dealer and service network across Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.
The company is also extending its manufacturer-backed seven-year warranty programme to eligible vehicles previously purchased through TrueEV and its authorised dealers.
Private owners receive a seven-year/unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty, while commercial vehicles are covered for seven years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
The traction battery, battery management system, drive motor and intelligent power unit are covered for eight years or 160,000km.
Xpeng says it has expanded its Australian customer support team to manage enquiries from existing owners.
The company is also progressing its participation in Australia’s Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme (MVIS) after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA) in June.
Technical onboarding is expected to be completed over the coming months, supporting access to service and repair information for independent repairers.
Xpeng says separately purchased extended warranties offered by third-party providers or retailers remain subject to the terms of those agreements.
