The Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) has hosted NSW Fair Trading representatives at BYD Sutherland for a first-hand look at electric vehicle servicing and repair.
The recent dealership visit provided an opportunity to demonstrate the systems, training and safety processes involved in working on EVs as the industry transitions to greater electrification.
It also allowed AADA and NSW Fair Trading to discuss the NSW Government’s proposed approach to EV repair qualifications and how potential changes could affect dealerships, technicians and apprentices.
AADA thanked BYD Sutherland and its team for hosting the visit and providing officials with a practical view of EV servicing and repair in a modern dealership.
“The AADA will continue working with NSW Fair Trading to ensure the future regulatory framework supports safety while remaining practical for franchised new car dealers and their workforce,” the AADA says.
