Mazda Australia offers EV buyers guaranteed future value product

Autotalk · 0 comments

Mazda Australia has introduced a finance product designed to address one of the most common barriers to electric vehicle (EV) ownership — uncertainty around future vehicle values — with the launch of Mazda Assured, a car loan product that includes a Guaranteed Future Value (GFV).

Backed by Mazda Finance, the product is aimed at Australians considering their first EV purchase, with residual value concerns and total ownership costs frequently cited as key hesitations when comparing EVs to internal combustion engine alternatives.

How Mazda Assured works

Mazda Assured allows customers to personalise their finance arrangements through flexible deposit options, loan terms, repayment frequencies, and balloon payment structures. The GFV component gives customers a confirmed value for their vehicle — as determined by Mazda Finance at the start of the loan — at the conclusion of the agreed term.

As an example, a Mazda 6e GT financed over a three-year term with a 20,000-kilometre annual allowance carries a GFV of $20,420, subject to fair wear and tear conditions being met.

At the end of the loan term, customers have three options: trade the vehicle in for a new Mazda, retain ownership by paying or refinancing the final balloon payment (subject to standard lending criteria), or return the vehicle to their Mazda dealer, with Mazda Finance applying the GFV against the outstanding balance — again, subject to fair wear and tear conditions and agreed kilometre limits being met.

Mazda Australia Marketing and Sales Director Jarrod Gieschen said the product was designed to support customers through what can be an unfamiliar purchasing process.

“Mazda Australia is committed to helping customers approach electric vehicle ownership with increased confidence as they make the transition to the next generation of mobility,” Gieschen said.

“We understand that the EV buying process is new and can be overwhelming for our customers, but rest assured, this is business as usual for us and our dealers – we’re here to support them with over 60 years of experience,” he said.

A broader market shift

The Mazda Assured launch comes as Tesla also introduces a GFV product in Australia this week, signalling a broader recognition among manufacturers that residual value certainty is becoming a key lever in driving EV adoption. While details of Tesla’s offering were not available at time of publication, the concurrent launches suggest the industry is moving toward more structured financial tools to support the transition to electrified motoring.

Customers seeking more information on Mazda Assured can contact their local Mazda dealer.
