Chargefox has partnered with EVX to integrate hundreds of kerbside electric vehicle (EV) chargers into its national platform, expanding charging access for drivers without off-street parking options.
The partnership brings 120 EVX locations featuring 240 charging plugs to the Chargefox app, with a further 28 Sydney locations to be added soon. EVX chargers are currently situated across New South Wales, including Wollongong and Sydney, as well as Ballina and Byron Bay, plus two locations in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.
The integration follows Chargefox’s recent addition of AGL kerbside charging sites, demonstrating continued collaboration within the EV charging sector to serve drivers without home charging access.
Kerbside charging addresses a critical infrastructure gap for apartment dwellers, renters, and those without access to home chargers. EVX’s pole-mounted chargers provide accessible everyday charging in areas where it is most needed.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome EVX to the Chargefox platform,” said Rebecca Stenhouse, CEO of Australian Motoring Services (AMS), which operates Chargefox. “Kerbside charging is a key part of our mission to make EV charging more convenient for drivers across Australia – delivering a single, secure and seamless experience, whenever and wherever they need it.”
The partnership means EVX’s kerbside charging sites are now accessible to all Australian EV drivers through the Chargefox app and RFID cards. Chargefox users, including private drivers, fleet customers, and subscription holders, can locate, charge, and pay for charging sessions at EVX locations through the integrated platform.
“We are all excited to welcome Chargefox customers to access EVX kerbside chargers as we continue to grow our network,” says Andrew Forster, CEO of EVX. “Recent announcements of roaming partnerships across the sector demonstrates charge point operators ongoing commitment to customer experience and universal access.”
The agreement represents another step toward ending app fatigue, where drivers must manage multiple apps and accounts for different public charging networks. For EVX, joining the Chargefox network exposes their chargers to a larger network of EV drivers, potentially driving higher utilisation and encouraging further investment in charging infrastructure.
The addition of EVX chargers expands the diversity of charging options available on Chargefox, which offers more EV chargers across Australia than any other platform.
Chargefox is wholly owned by Australian Motoring Services, which is owned by Australia’s mobility clubs including NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC, and RACT. Founded in 2021, EVX focuses on addressing the lack of reliable public infrastructure for EV users without adequate home charging access.
