Porsche Centre Melbourne pilots new short term rental program

Using the Porsche Centre Melbourne as the collection hub, Porsche Cars Australia is launching a six month pilot program for customers to rent cars directly from the brand.

Online bookings are now open for Porsche Drive Rental with the first customer loans to commence from mid-February.

A dedicated Porsche Drive Rental Valet will be stationed at the Porsche Centre Melbourne to assist customers with the rental vehicle collection and return.

Porsche Cars Australia says the service will let customers access selected Porsche models for short-term use.  It is a response to meet changing customer preferences and the trend towards user choices that are digital, flexible and individual.

“This pilot program in Melbourne will give us insights into how we evolve this offering in Australia in future years,“ Porsche Cars Australia managing director Daniel Schmollinger says.

The program’s Australian launch will offer access to several Porsche sports cars, including the 911 Carrera 4S, 718 Boxster S, and all-electric Taycan 4S.

Program customers can schedule their preferred Porsche model online. Once they set up their customer profile, they can choose their rental period and their preferred Porsche model.

Then it’s just a matter of collecting and returning the car on the scheduled dates.

Program customers can book for a day, weekend or week, with bookings now available during the initial six month pilot program.

The brand says Porsche Drive Rental is a popular option in its growing list of mobility services. Porsche’s rental service commenced in Germany in 2014 and is available across a total of 60 locations in Europe, North America and Japan.
