Mini has announced a new head of marketing for its Australia and New Zealand arm, who will take up the role effective immediately.

Mini Australia and New Zealand’s former brand and partnership marketing Nikesh Gohil has been confirmed for the position in a statement issued earlier today.

Gohil replaces Alex Mclean, who became general manager of BMW Australia Marketing earlier this year.

“Since its inception, Mini has showcased sustainability by being an economical, efficient and well-packaged mobility solution for people all over the world,” says Gohil.

“More than 60 years later, Mini continues its sustainable legacy by striving to become a fully electric brand by 2030. I am excited to continue shining a spotlight on the Mini’s creative, fun-loving character and look forward to being a key contributor to the brand’s progressive future direction.”

Gohil has worked for Mini Australia and New Zealand since 2016, having come across from his previous role as customer experience manager for sister firm BMW. Other former positions include domestic marketing manager for Monash University.

Mini lists one of Gohil’s “multi-tiered collaboration” with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras as one of his career highlights with the brand.

It adds that Gohil helped implement successful partnerships with QT Hotels, Arts Centre Melbourne, and the Melbourne International Film Festival among other companies.

“Over the past six years, Nikesh has demonstrated his passion for Mini through the execution of various creative campaigns and has been one of the key driving forces behind generating stronger awareness and excitement around Mini’s expanding electric portfolio,” adds Matt Schmidt, general manager of Mini Australia and New Zealand.

“He truly embodies the Mini spirit, and his expertise will be of great benefit to both our journey towards a fully electric future, and our other campaigns and initiatives in the coming years.”
