CarExpert launches Sales Atlas tool for new-car market data

Autotalk · 0 comments

CarExpert has launched Sales Atlas, a new online tool that provides searchable access to new-car sales data stretching back to 1991, giving industry participants a more detailed view of market trends beyond the standard monthly figures.

Available through CarExpert.com.au, the tool allows users to search by brand, model and year, compare makes and models, and review historical sales performance. Monthly snapshots cover brand and model rankings, segment movement, fuel mix, buyer type, market category, pricing context and country-of-origin trends.

“Australia is one of the most competitive new-car markets in the world, and it is getting harder to quickly see what is really happening,” CarExpert chief executive Damon Rielly said in a statement. “There are more brands, more models, more powertrains and more price points than ever before. A monthly sales result is important, but it doesn’t always tell the full story. CarExpert’s Sales Atlas gives the industry a more practical way to search the market, compare performance and understand where demand is moving.”

A tool built for the industry

Sales Atlas has been designed for use across a broad range of automotive industry stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), dealers, fleet and leasing companies, industry bodies, regulators, media, finance and insurance providers, aftermarket businesses, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure stakeholders and researchers.

The tool goes beyond the monthly sales leaderboard, allowing users to track which brands and models are gaining momentum, how segments are shifting, how fuel types are evolving, and where buyer demand is forming by category and price band.

The price-band feature is expected to be of particular value to dealers and OEMs. Rather than simply identifying which model topped the sales chart, users can examine where customers are clustering within specific price ranges, which models are performing in those bands, and where pressure or opportunity may exist in the market.

CarExpert founder Alborz Fallah said the tool was built to answer questions the industry regularly asks but has struggled to answer quickly. “How has a model performed over time? Which brands are gaining momentum? What is happening in a particular segment? Where is the buyer moving? Until now, getting those answers usually meant digging through spreadsheets. We wanted to make it easier to search, compare and understand,” he said.

Sales Atlas is available now at CarExpert.com.au.
