Starting from ground zero more than seven years ago, Ram Trucks Australia, which is part of the Ateco Group, says it has now sold more than 13,000 vehicles in the market.
The brand is now introducing a new halo 1500 TRX model into the Australian market which it says is the world’s most powerful mass-produced pick-up truck.
The Ram 1500 TRX is powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 Hemi engine, which produces engine power of 523kW @ 6100rpm and a torque figure of 882Nm @ 4200rpm, matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an on-demand 4×4 system.
The 1500 TRX can sprint from zero to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 190km/h.
Ateco Group chair Neville Chrichton says the addition of the 1500 TRX means the Ram Trucks brand offers the largest and most diverse full-size pick-up truck range on offer in Australia.
Chrichton says the Australian market is a true success story for the Ram Trucks brand.
“From nothing seven years ago to more than 13,000 happy owners now,” he says.
“When we first started this brand in Australia people said it couldn’t be done,” Ram Trucks Australia national manager Jeff Barber says.
“Our planning, development, remanufacturing, and testing programme in conjunction with our partners at Stellantis’ Ram Trucks International has produced a range of vehicles which have successfully built-up strong demand for full-size pick-up trucks in Australia and New Zealand,” he says.
The range starts with the Ram 1500 Express Crew and Warlock models in the original DS variant, followed by the 1500 Laramie and 1500 Limited in the recently launched DT model range, and the Heavy Duty 2500 Laramie and Heavy Duty 3500 Laramie.
Priced from $199,950 RRP, the only option available for the Ram 1500 TRX will be a full-length panoramic sunroof, at an additional $10,000 RRP.
