No better time for car dealers to go online

Robert Barry · 0 comments

Gumtree Cars says there is no better time for car dealerships to launch an online virtual extension of their business.

It is extending its COVID-19 dealer support initiatives until the end of May, letting new and existing dealer partners list their vehicle inventory at a reduced cost.

To further support its dealer partners, Gumtree Cars has launched a dealer tool kit that provides a variety of resources to help generate views and connections in the digital space.

The support program – in combination with an improvement in market sentiment – has already garnered positive results in the month of April, with traffic on site increasing by 18% in the first half of the month and dealers reporting a 13.3% increase in stock views.

“We are extending our dealer support measures by another month and enabling dealers to list their inventory on our platform at a reduced cost during May,” says Gumtree Cars head of motors Richard DiCello.

“We hope that by giving dealers much needed visibility at this time, we can help continue to drive those all-important sales opportunities for dealers during the current crisis.”

For the month of May, Gumtree Cars, will:

● Offer 50% off all subscription fees for new and existing dealer partners
● Offer 50% off all listing overage charges
● Waive all subscription fees and overage charges for new and demo cars
● Provide insights and resources via the newly launched Dealer Tool Kit
● Extend payment terms for all May services from 30 to 60 days

Car shoppers are looking online

As part of the Dealer Tool Kit, Gumtree Cars released site trend insights and data from the first half of April, which highlight the potential rewards for dealers from virtually extending their dealerships via the platform as consumer sentiments increase. Traffic to Gumtree Cars increased 18% in the first half of April with dealers experiencing double digit growth in views.

Highlights include:

● +18.2% uplift in visits to Gumtree Cars to start April
● +13.3% increase in dealer stock views in the first two weeks of April
● +4.9% increase in dealer connections in the first two weeks of April
● +49% increase in average time on site for Gumtree Cars visitors
● Top 20 car brands experienced growth in search intent in the first three weeks of April

“There’s no better time to establish a virtual extension of your dealership, as demonstrated by the double digit growth in inventory views, and the 5% increase in connections reported by our dealers in April,” DiCello says.
