Police are hunting three people who stole nine cars from Trivett Automotive Group’s Subaru Doncaster dealership last week.
Victoria Police reports the Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives are searching for thieves who allegedly stole three brand new MY19 Foresters – two blue and one red – as well as an unregistered Impreza and a white XV.
Used cars were also targeted on the night of October 24, including a black Ford Ranger, white Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV and a 2010 silver Forester.
Police understand the assailants were eating at the nearby Pancake Parlour and other restaurants before carrying out the theft, and witnesses of a red Mitsubishi Outlander seen lapping the vicinity that night are asked to provide information.
It’s understood the Outlander was used to push the dealership doors open to access the keys, commonly the easiest way for thieves to steal dealership stock.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rowan Courtis tells 3AW it was the night of a sudden spring heatwave and lots of people would have been eating out and have probable seen something.
“We’re asking for people who were in that area attending restaurants and eateries, and the service station nearby, who may have recognised these people,” Curtis says.

“We know that one of the vehicles, the 2010 Subaru Forester … evaded police up in Heidelberg about 3 o’clock in the morning on the 26th of October,” Courtis explains.
“Our concern is that these vehicles will be involved in other crimes in metropolitan Melbourne, and so we just ask the public to keep a lookout,” he adds.
Registrations and details for the vehicles are:
2019 MY19 Subaru Forester – blue – 1QJ5SP
