New generation Mitsubishi ASX to arrive in Australian showrooms in 2025

Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL) says a new-generation ASX will join the Outlander, Outlander PHEV and Triton in dealer showrooms in 2025.

However, the current ASX, Eclipse Cross, Eclipse Cross PHEV, and Pajero Sport models have ended production for this market due to updated Australian Design Rules being implemented on March 1, 2025.

“This is not unprecedented; we have seen similar situations before, and our teams are well-prepared to manage this transition,” MMAL chief executive Shaun Westcott says.

“We have worked closely with our dealer partners to ensure each model line will be ordered in sufficient quantities ahead of time. This will support our customers while we confirm our future model plans as a core Mitsubishi market. We will announce these future models in due course.

“Customers can be assured that our expansive dealer network will continue to support servicing and parts requirements for the outgoing models.

“The new Mitsubishi ASX blends modern design and a dynamic driving experience. We look forward to sharing more details of this intriguing new SUV as we move closer to its market launch in 2025,” he says.

The next step in Momentum 2030

The latest-generation Mitsubishi ASX is the next step in Takao Kato, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, ‘s Momentum 2030 business plan, which was outlined earlier this year.

Momentum 2030 outlined a product roadmap detailing the release of several new or significantly updated vehicles in Australia by the decade’s end.

The first step in the plan was confirmation that Australia will receive a significantly updated Outlander range, including the PHEV, in 2025. The latter promises a larger battery, higher performance, and enhanced design, technology and connectivity.

These significant upgrades follow the introduction of the newest Triton, the value-packed Triton GLX-R Dual Cab Utility. In 2025, additional Triton grades and body styles, including the Cab Chassis variant, will follow.

Additionally, the recent acquisition of a 5% stake in FleetPartners Group, an Australian fleet leasing company, further indicates MMC’s commitment to this region as sales channels and business opportunities evolve.

“Mitsubishi Motors Australia is proud to remain a core market for the global Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. We look forward to further enjoying this close working relationship as we navigate 2030 and beyond,” Westcott says.
