Neuron has integrated with Google Maps to help commuters easily locate their nearest available e-scooters and e-bikes for a safe, convenient and sustainable first and last-mile transport option.
Riders can now better plan their journeys in real-time, with information provided as to how long it takes to reach the vehicle, the battery range and expected arrival time at their destination for a seamless multi-modal experience.
The integration is available to Google Maps users across 16 cities worldwide, including nine cities in Australia (Adelaide, Ballarat, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Launceston and Townsville, with more to follow) where Neuron has also partnered with Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform Moovit to offer greater trip customisations.
Google Maps integration with Neuron is also provided in Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand.
More than 45% of Neuron e-scooter trips in Australia directly replace a car journey, reducing congestion and saving an estimated 480 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Recent research in Australia has highlighted that over half of Neuron riders (53%) found that e-scooters help extend their range of travel. They also provide a valuable first or last-mile solution, connecting riders to other forms of public transport.
This latest integration will help riders to better plan their journeys across different modes of transport and make taking an e-scooter or e-bike even easier.
After selecting a vehicle on the map, users will be redirected to the Neuron app for unlocking and payment.
“Since launching in Australia our vehicles have rapidly become a go-to solution for first and last-mile journeys, providing a convenient link between home or work and their nearest bus stop or train station,” Neuron operations head Richard Hannah says.
“By integrating our service with Google Maps we are making it simpler, and more convenient, than ever before to make an e-scooter or e-bike part of your journey.”
