BYD is offering $500 off its Atto 3 for New South Wales buyers before the state’s EV rebate of $3000 ends on December 31 this year.
The rebate was introduced from September 1, 2021, for the first 25,000 new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) for vehicles up to $68,750.
BYD Australian distributer EVDirect.com chief executive Luke Todd says it follows a similar move six months ago in Victoria when that state slashed its subsidy scheme with very little notice, according to The Driven.io.
“Just as we did for Victorians before their government’s electric vehicle rebate ended on 30 June this year, it is important for us as a company to now rally for those in NSW ahead of the announcement that the rebate scheme will end on 31 December 2023,” Todd explains.
“What we’ve uncovered, is that many prospective EV buyers are not aware that the NSW rebate in capped at 25,000 across the state since it was first announced,” he adds, expecting Atto 3 buying to ramp up during the next six weeks.
The $500 rebate applies to customers placing an order and getting their Atto 3 delivered between November 21 and December 31.
A BYD rebate team will assist more customers in NSW get access to the $500 offer.
More than 12,000 BYD Atto 3s have reportedly been delivered to customers during the past 15 months.
BYD Dolphin hatchback deliveries have just begun, with the Seal sedan now available to order and two new BYD EVs expected next year.
