The Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) has congratulated former chair Frank Agostino on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to the automotive industry and the wider community.

Announced in the King’s Birthday Honours on June 10, the recognition celebrates Agostino’s long-standing contribution to the national motor trades sector and his commitment to charitable causes.

“Frank’s contribution to the motor trades industry has been extraordinary,” said MTAA interim executive director Rod Camm.

“His strategic leadership as MTAA chair helped navigate critical industry challenges and positioned our sector for future growth. This Order of Australia recognition is richly deserved for someone who has dedicated his career to advancing our industry whilst giving back to the community. We’re proud to call Frank a valued colleague and leader.”

From an apprentice mechanic, Agostino rose to become a respected industry leader with a diverse business portfolio and a reputation for excellence. His leadership at MTAA was marked by a strong focus on national policy advocacy and ensuring the automotive sector had a clear voice at the federal level.

Beyond his industry achievements, Agostino has been deeply involved in community service. He has supported several charitable organisations including Variety – the Children’s Charity and Anglicare SA, reflecting values MTAA encourages among its membership.

MTAA says it has been honoured to benefit from Agostino’s leadership and vision, and that this national honour is a fitting tribute to his enduring legacy in the sector.

“We extend our congratulations to Frank on this prestigious honour,” Camm said.
