
BMW Group’s new Debrecen plant in Hungary has produced its 50,000th BMW iX3, reaching the milestone just nine months after series production began.
The achievement marks the fastest production ramp-up at a new BMW Group plant and reflects strong global demand for the all-electric BMW iX3, the first production model based on the company’s Neue Klasse vehicle architecture.
The next-generation electric SUV introduces BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, featuring an 800-volt electrical architecture, new cylindrical battery cells, a driving range of up to 805km (WLTP) and DC fast charging at up to 400kW, allowing more than 350km of range to be added in 10 minutes. It also debuts BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive operating system and four high-performance onboard computers, or “superbrains”, that manage driving dynamics, automated driving, infotainment and vehicle functions.
“The 50,000th BMW iX3 underscores the capabilities of our plant in Debrecen: Never before have we built so many vehicles so quickly at a new plant. This milestone is the result of an outstanding team effort,” says Raymond Wittmann, BMW AG board member responsible for production.
BMW says the rapid increase in production was supported by the introduction of a second shift in February 2026, ahead of schedule, in response to strong customer demand following the model’s market launch.
The company says it is also on track to reach 100,000 customer orders for the BMW iX3.
As the first series-production vehicle built on the Neue Klasse platform, the iX3 marks the beginning of a new generation of BMW electric vehicles and plays a key role in the company’s future production strategy.

BMW says lessons learned during the iX3 launch are already being shared across its global manufacturing network as it prepares to introduce 40 new or updated models by the end of 2027.
Wittmann says knowledge transfer between production sites will help improve efficiency, speed and quality while enabling potential quality issues to be identified and addressed before they are repeated elsewhere. Digital tools and a shared database underpin the process.
