German luxury car giant Mercedes-Benz has been forced to apologise to the Chinese people after quoting the Dalai Lama.
The company uploaded a post to its Instagram account showing one of its vehicles on the beach, with the Dalai Lama quote “Look at situations from all angles, and you will become more open”.

Ford’s F150 Raptor is known for its jumping ability, and its new, smaller Ranger equivalent did just that at its reveal in Thailand last night.
The model jumped an artificial hill at the event. The sports version of the Ranger is due here in the third quarter of this year.

Specifications for the new McLaren Senna, named after Formula 1 racing legend Ayrton Senna, have been released.
The car will make its public debut on March 6 at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show.

Ridesharing company Lyft has signed a mutually beneficial agreement with dealers in the United States.
In a blog post, Lyft says its partnership with the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) will “help improve the customer experience at dealerships, provide a new way for drivers to get on the road, and to help auto dealers increase their sales through referral opportunities”.
The agreement focuses on helping connect auto dealers with Lyft drivers who need cars, while dealerships will receive a bonus for referring new drivers. Read the full story »

The Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) has responded to a KPMG study that asked over 950 global executives, CEOs and managers about the automotive industry’s future.
Many executives believed the electric vehicle and autonomy transition would lead to the decline of “bricks and mortar” dealerships within the next decade – the AADA thinks differently.
KPMG’s respondents to the 2018 Global Automotive Executive Survey found 56% of executives believe that physical retail outlets will be reduced by 30% to 50% by 2025.

A rare Aston Martin formerly owned by Sir Elton John is offered at the Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Classic Car Sale in Britain on February 24 and 25.
The hand-built 1997 V8 Vantage V550, which Sir Elton ordered new from the Aston Martin factory in Newport Pagnell, is expected to fetch up to 250,000 pounds (A$442,000)) at auction.
It has 8663 miles (13,941km) on the clock, and it comes with its original service books and invoices.
